This is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. Mark 12:11

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.” Isaiah 43:1-2, NAS
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that was at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Psalm 91:6-7, KJV
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Psalm 23:4, KJV
Each of these passages have two things in common: there is danger, and we’re directed to walk through it. These verses all have an encouraging note, however, because they all are a promise from our Lord of his protection. What better way to go through these dangers than with such a bodyguard, right? Yet each of these have a catch: you have to choose to walk with God through them. Isaiah 43 promises protection for the redeemed. Psalm 91 says protection is for “those who live in the shelter of the Most High.” In Psalm 23, David said “the Lord is my shepherd," implying the benefits that come with the Herder are for those who’ve allowed themselves to be herded. If sheep don’t listen to the shepherd’s voice when he gives them a caution or if they don’t follow him where he leads, they become vulnerable to theft or slaughter. I could blindly walk across I-20 during rush hour, but in breaking the laws of my government and physics, I think I forfeit the right to live in God’s protective bubble. We have to pay attention to God's quiet voice, to the directives given to us in the Word, and to wise counsel. God will make his will known to us, especially if our well being is in jeopardy. He loves us and doesn’t want to see us hurt, but he won’t take away our free will. I was thinking of the story of the Israelites when they tried to take Canaan without God and Moses’ account of what happens when we choose to fight without our Bodyguard: But the Lord said to me, "Tell them, 'Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.' "So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the Lord’s command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country. The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees and beat you down from Seir all the way to Hormah. Deuteronomy 1:41-44, NLT
